What a fantastic evening we had last night as we welcomed Oxbridge professor Dr Tom Crawford to the Amey Theatre for a whirlwind tour of the maths behind some of his favourite fictional worlds.

The evening was filled with fun, discovery and plenty of audience participation, as budding mathematicians of all ages joined us for an event that the whole family could enjoy. The audience discovered how to calculate a Hobbit’s insurance premium, work out the blast radius of the Death Star, find the optimal way to defeat the Avengers, and much more!

It was a real pleasure to welcome Tom to Abingdon, and we hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.
