THANKS a
MILLION !
08
Sport
‘A million by March’ was our aim in January and with your help we’ve done it! In fact, we have raised more
than a million and at the time of going to press the total is £1, 325,000. This total includes a major grant
from the Mercers’ Company and a major donation from the Yang family, after who the Science Centre will
be named. We should like to say a great big thank you to everyone who has contributed.
At the ground-breaking ceremony on 27 March twenty spades, adorned in Abingdon coloured ribbons,
were taken up enthusiastically by representatives from all sections of the donor community who dug a
5m x 5m replica of the floor plan. Building is now underway and the Yang Science Centre is on course to
open in September 2015.
