Modular Coffee Table
This teardrop shaped coffee table with an LED glow surface is the
result of six months of research, design, manufacture and
evaluaEon. The goal was to design a funcEonal and futurisEc coffee
table for a high street furniture shop aimed at middle class buyers.
AIer researching tradiEonal coffee tables, as well as sizes and best
materials to use, I drew many sketches. Of those sketches, only two
were selected to be further developed, unEl the product is what you
see today. During the manufacture of the table, I had combined
both tradiEonal manufacturing methods, such as woodturning and
more advanced CAD manufacturing techniques, such as the use of a
CNC router.
This table is unique in the way that it evades tradiEonal coffee table
shapes and styles. In addiEon, electronics is incorporated to create a
lighEng effect that is both funcEonal and futurisEc.
