OA Lunch at Mercers’ Hall 24 January 2023 We are privileged to be able to hold an annual lunch at Mercers’ Hall in London. In January this year we welcomed OAs who left Abingdon before 1970, who were hosted by the Chairman of the 1563 Society, Chris Pickup (OA 1960) and the Headmaster, Mike Windsor. Our philanthropic relationship with the Mercers’ Company stretches back to 1563 and, in 2000, the School expressed its gratitude by presenting the Company with a stained glass panel of OA benefactor John Roysse’s coat of arms. In 2021 the Mercers’ bought a portrait of John Roysse and our OA guests were able to view both on their visit. OA Lunch at Abingdon School On 22 March, over 50 OAs who left Abingdon before 1970 attended a lunch hosted by Mike Windsor, Headmaster and Chris Pickup (OA 1960), Chairman of the 1563 Society. Some of those OAs attending had not been back to the School since they left so were delighted to be shown around by some of our prefects.
