Young Musicians
The Lower School Gala Concert on 29
June was an opportunity to showcase the
talent of the youngest musicians at the
School. Several of the soloists performed
twice, each time on a different instrument:
Anthony Bracey played Chopin’s piano
Nocturne in B Minor
, and Bizet’s cello
Entr’acte
from
Carmen
; Alex Reynolds
played Nielson’s piano piece
Mignon
and
Squire’s
Dance Rustique
for the cello,
whilst Leon Wu played the piano and
the violin – Liszt’s
Liebestraum No 3
and
Dvorak’s
Sonatina
.

Cast, crew and audience all enjoyed themselves hugely with the Lower School
production of James and the Giant Peach last May. The production, a lively,
colourful, modern take on the story, combined contemporary dance, song,
physical theatre and mime. First-class performances combined with some
amazing set-construction-wizardry created an evening to remember.
