9 Being a bursary holder at Abingdon has truly enabled me to develop personally in ways I don’t think would have been possible otherwise. The sheer generosity of Peter and Julia Kandiah has enabled me to not only develop my academic skill set for seven years at the school (thanks to the help of fantastic teachers and staff), but also make amazing friends and develop personal skills that will hopefully go a long way in enabling my career to take shape. Selflessness, generosity and good will enriches society, and Peter and Julia embody these. It’s thanks to their generosity alone that I was able to be at Abingdon. I never for one moment took my bursary for granted, and I seized every opportunity at the school that this bursary has offered me. I truly hope that I can embody the Kandiah’s sense of generosity to others as I leave school, and the dream is to one day be in a position myself to be able to give back to a school that has given me so much, and support the bursary programme myself.
