14 A home away from home: Your impact on boarding With your support, Austin and Crescent Houses have been thoughtfully extended and comprehensively refurbished, significantly enhancing the daily lives of boarding and day students. This summer will see School House undergoing extensive renovations, completing this complex and important investment in boarding at Abingdon. Boarding is a core part of life at Abingdon, a boarding house is far more than just a space to sleep; it is a home away from home where lifelong friendships are forged and character is built. Those parents and OAs who chose to sponsor rooms have ensured that our physical spaces truly reflect the warmth and exceptional pastoral care for which we are known. These enhanced and modernised environments continue to offer our boarders the comfort and space they need to flourish, both in their studies and their personal growth. It was particularly poignant when a close group of OAs who left in the 1950s and 1960s came together to give back to School House, their old boarding house.
