Last term, ASPA held a Burns Night Supper and Ceilidh in the new pavilion which was a great success - and many thanks to Toby in Year 7 who gave a superb performance piping in the Haggis! I am pleased that since my last appeal we have welcomed a number of new members to ASPA but, as others step down due to their sons leaving the school, we still need more. Places will be able to be booked through the box office – look out for further details in the weekly newsletter. Great fun was had last year with prizes for the winners, and losers! ASPA vacancies A huge thank you to Kathy, Christina and Caroline for their collective 18 years of service to ASPA. They are stepping down at the end of this year and we are now looking for energetic and willing newcomers to join the committee - in particular in the roles of Treasurer and Committee Secretary. Being part of ASPA is a fulfilling way of supporting other parents, your children and the school. Well! What can we say? Apart from what a wonderful evening! In fact, we had such a good time that the committee has agreed to do it all again in January 2025. Applications for this year’s travel awards close on 1 May. Each year, ASPA and the OA Club offer sixth formers the opportunity to apply for financial help for overseas adventures. Students can be awarded up to £500, depending on the nature and value of their proposed project. They submit an application and then a panel will quiz them on their proposed adventure. The variety of applications over the few years I have been involved in this initiative have surprised and impressed me. The only thing we ask is the lucky recipients share the experience with their peers when they return to school to inspire others who might like to follow them. Travel Awards Burns Night Supper
