4 Abingdon Prep • September 2023 Our Year 8 students had a fantastic time on their leavers’ trip to Poole, Dorset, continuing to develop their knowledge, understanding, resilience and teamwork skills over the course of the week. Activities included orienteering, archery, code-breaking and climbing on land, and raft-building, SUPs and canoeing in the water. The glorious weather and idyllic surroundings truly made this a trip to remember! TRIPS YEAR 8 POOLE RESIDENTIAL YEAR 8 HIKE THE RIDGEWAY YEAR 5 VISIT NELSON’S FLAGSHIP On the penultimate day of term, Year 8 took to the Ridgeway in the sunshine for a final outing together, returning for more fun and games at the pavilion where house T-shirts were signed as mementoes of their time at APS. Year 5’s day trip to the Royal Navy’s Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth is always a highlight of the year. Exploring Admiral Nelson’s flagship, HMS Victory, at close quarters really showed the pupils what life was like in Nelson’s navy that they had been studying.
