As the average school year contains 180 days, that is not far short of 4000 school dinners she has supervised cooking during that time! She has also provided staff with tasty lunches on INSET days, as well as filling packed lunches for all of our trips, and always managing to feed the school even during power cuts. She has helped to extend and improve the range and quality of school dinners enormously. We are incredibly lucky to have the wide and nutritious choices we do, with no little thanks due to Julie. We are extremely fortunate to have had her on our staff for so long and we should be enormously grateful for all she has done to sustain us. We wish Julie the very best of luck as she finds time to spend more time cooking for herself and her own family and with all that she goes on to pursue in the future. Stefan Gerrard During her two years at Abingdon Prep, Julie has combined the morning busyness of the main office with her equally busy work in the admissions office. She has masterminded the complexities of weekly planning meetings and her keen eye for detail has helped events run smoothly. Unfailingly polite and professional, Julie has been a very valued colleague and personally, I will miss her superb sense of humour. We are lucky that we are not saying goodbye completely but may need to shout a little louder for her to hear us as she moves over to Abingdon School to take up a role in the HR department. Thank you for all your hard work and kindness, Julie. Rachel Pairman LIAM O’HICKEY Liam came straight to us after A-Levels at Abingdon as a temporary gap student filling the ‘gap’ we had, before heading off on his own gap year travels. Liam slotted straight into the job, proving himself to be very popular with boys and staff, and ready to put his hand to anything. Hard working and so helpful, Liam always has a smile on his face. He set off for Central America after half-term on the trip of a lifetime. We send all our best wishes and good luck for the rest of his trip, uni and the years ahead. Thank you Liam. After filing the edges of their printing plates, they selected images of wrens, a newt, owls, hares and kingfishers. Learning a little of the history of printmaking and etching, they embarked on using a burr to incise their imagery and later, inked up to create a range of fabulous prints using the press. The standard was very high, and everyone enjoyed the time and space to be creative while learning a new skill. Another workshop is already being discussed, we hope you can join us next time!
