Abingdon News No.59

www.abingdon.org.uk 3 This week has been one of the best weeks of my life! All the teachers were really nice and friendly, all the activities I did were really fun and the lunches were great. I can’t wait for next week! I had a really fun and exciting week. I found Latin interesting with all the gods and their Greek and Roman names, also having a look at how big their shields and swords were. My week has been amazing. I love Abingdon. Some of my favourite things are the friends that I have made and the food. My favourite part of the school was the Other Half (especially the Science Club where we played with non-Newtonian fluids). The Abingdon students took to the pitch with much enthusiasm but the St Kate’s Day local derby ended in a 6-0 victory for the girls. Awards for The Martlet Ben Lisemore and Felix Kind travelled to the Guildhall in London to represent our student led newspaper, The Martlet at the Shine Media Awards. In an impressive haul, the sixth formers collected Best Newspaper, Best Newspaper Front Page and Best Overall Content. This important date in the school calendar, gives us a chance to celebrate and share the joys of the written and spoken word. This year was no exception with a poetry writing competition across the school, as well as a video featuring students, staff and tutor groups reading some of their favourite poems.
