Abingdon Prep Open Day 2021

Our Open Morning provides the opportunity to see the Prep School ‘at work’ during normal lessons. All our facilities are in use and the following is an outline of areas of interest: Art – a fantastic range of artwork on display using different media including ceramics and printing. Classrooms – a variety of lessons from Art to Zoology. Computing – our dedicated computer suite is equipped with the latest technology. Craft Design and Technology, CDT – from the boys’ hand-made motorised boats and cars to craft work for all occasions, our CDT room is overflowing with creativity. Drama – visit our performing arts studio; productions include plays, musicals, concerts and recitals. Forest School – join the Pre-Prep Forest School and explore bug hotels, fire lighting and den building. Music – visit a music lesson and talk to our music staff about the range of ensembles, choirs and peripatetic tuition. Pre-Prep – take a look at the range of activities and subjects that our younger pupils enjoy from Reception to Year 2. Science – visit the lab, speak to our science staff and see our young scientists in action. Sport – outstanding facilities include an astro turf, indoor heated swimming pool, sports hall and acres of playing fields. Sports include rugby, football, cricket, hockey, tennis, PE, badminton, athletics, rounders and swimming. There is specialist coaching for golf, karate, fencing and shooting. New facilities – We would also like to share with you plans for our new development which will create very exciting opportunities for the boys across a wide range of subjects. The new facilities include a music school, second science lab, purpose-built spaces for CDT and four additional classrooms for Years 5 and 6. The additional space will allow us to transform many of our existing facilities including a major change to the library which will more than double in size and undergo complete refurbishment becoming a bright, modern, new learning space with teaching, break out and quiet reading areas. There will be a new multi-use hall for Pre-Prep and much improved facilities for Computing, Drama and Learning Support.
