Here’s what some of them said at the end of their first week: My first week at Abingdon has been one of the best weeks of my life. I was very excited and a little apprehensive at first but once I started lessons, I felt at home. I have already learnt a lot of new things and I am exploring many new subjects that I have never been taught before. I found my first week at Abingdon fabulous. I really enjoyed the academic bits especially the Latin and meeting Cerberus the canis. I also really enjoyed the Other Half activities we got to do and my favourite was the swimming. All of the teachers have been very nice and made me feel very welcome. I have really enjoyed my first week at Abingdon. The sausage rolls were huge! First Years’ First Week “ ” “ ” ” “ “ ” The Abingdon Science Partnership’s new Royal Society Partnership Grant project has begun with researchers at Oxford University’s Department of Physics currently developing desktop interferometer experiments. Sixth formers at Abingdon are writing and recording remote training materials to be used by all schools taking part in the project later in this academic year. Interferometry project Peterhouse’s Vellacott History Prize Johan Nerlov in the Upper Sixth has won the prestigious Cambridge University Vellacott History Essay Prize. This is one of the most competitive pre-graduate essay competitions in the country. The standard of entries was high, but the judges said that Johan’s essay stood out for its clarity of argument, stylish prose, level of research, and originality of thought. Johan picked up £75 and was invited to attend the Peterhouse Virtual Open Day.
