Health
The Health Centre State Registered Nurse, is on duty during the school
week. The School Medical Officer or a partner in his GP practice is
always available, in addition to his regular surgery visits. Full boarding
pupils needing medical treatment at school are cared for in the Health
Centre, a building overlooking Waste Court field. We expect weekly
boarding and day boys, who fall ill, to go home.
When a boarder requires special medical treatment, the School will make
every effort to obtain the prior consent of a parent or guardian, or of the
pupil himself, if he is over sixteen. Should this be impossible, the Head or
housemaster, acting in loco parentis, is authorised to consent to
whatever treatment (including anaesthetic or operation) a doctor or
consultant recommends.
Uniform

may be purchased please visit the school website.

Abingdon School Parents’ Association
The Abingdon School Parents’ Association (ASPA) is an association to
which all parents automatically belong. Through ASPA, parents help the
School in various ways: members run the second-hand clothing scheme
and organise a variety of social events. ASPA Travel Bursaries and
Initiative Awards are made annually to boys in the School. Details can be
found at
www.abingdon.org.uk/aspa
The Old Abingdonian Club
The Old Abingdonian Club, or OA Club, is the School’s alumni
association, and has nearly 6,000 members. The OA Club helps keep
Old Abingdonians in touch with one another through a range of social
and sporting events as well as via the OA web site,
www.abingdon.org.uk/oa
and OA publications. Through a career development programme, many
Old Abingdonians also advise and mentor current boys at Abingdon on
their choice of a future career as well as offer work experience opportunities.
We also fully appreciate the very generous support Old Abingdonians give
to various school fundraising appeals and campaigns.
