Abingdonian 2017

87 www.abingdon.org.uk House Reports thoroughly entertaining performance of Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega. How the judges overlooked Crescent yet again I will never know! Crescent House boys achieved some excellent GCSE results over the summer, possibly amongst the best I have seen, Felipe Jin Li achieving 11 A*s, Supasin Kongpun, Jonathan Lee and Ethan Webb 10 A*s, Sam Christie, Edward Hayes and Daniel Ooi 9 A*s and an A, and Jate Jaturanpinyo 8 A*s and an A. At A-Level, Patrick Leggett, Christopher Yip and Yuan Han Li all achieved 4 A*s and an A, Kenneth Au Yeung 2 A*s and 3 As, Oscar Bond 2 A*s and 2 As, Thomas Bishop 2 A*s and an A, and Jake Pennington an A*, A and a D3 in Pre-U French. All the Crescent Upper Sixth can be proud of their achievements though, and I wish them luck as they move on to pastures new and fresh beginnings. Over the course of the year, the house was ably led by Head of House Yuan Han Li, with Josh Ascroft, Oscar Bond, Christian Kirk and Christopher Yip all representing Crescent as School Prefects. I thank them and the other senior boys for all of their support and hard work. We said goodbye to Mr Pemberton, Mr Deasy and Miss Engel-Hart as tutors. Mr Ball, Mr Chase, Miss McCutcheon and Mr Moody join the house, as well as Miss Briscoe as resident tutor in Cobban. Mr Barnes stepped down as Assistant Housemaster, although will remain a tutor, and I thank him for all he has done in the role. Miss Poole takes on the role of Assistant Housemaster from September 2017. The Heads of House for 2017/18 will be Justin Chow and Josh Washington, while Fergus Mitchell, Jai Sidpra and Anthony Yang will be School Prefects. I am confident that they and the rest of the Upper Sixth will lead the House ably, in what I am sure will be another very successful year for Crescent House.
