Abingdonian 2017
51 www.abingdon.org.uk Summer Term 400m. Oliver Moody lead the school out before handing over to Calum Steer, both putting Abingdon in a commanding position. Tom Butcher ran a superb third leg extending the lead to roughly 30m. Harrow saved their best runner until last: the infamous George Grassly, their cross country champion, who had run a 3min 58s in the 1500m earlier that day. He closed the gap to within 5m of Alex Moss (Abingdon) at the end of the back straight. As Abingdon and Harrow rounded the final bend it was neck and neck, Alex Moss dug deep, summoning all of his 100m prowess and re-established a 2m lead with 50m to go. He crossed the line to take the win in a time of 3 minutes 40s. Bedford Super Eights For the last meet of the season the senior and intermediate athletics squad travelled to the Bedford International Stadium to compete in the condensed Super Eight format. The seniors continued their run of good form with a number of athletes running PBs and securing third place against other high calibre schools and athletes. Schools in attendance were: Harrow, Whitgift, Bedford, Oakham, Stamford, MCS Oxford and Coopers Coborn.
