40 The Abingdonian Lower School History Club If you thought that Lower School History Club was all about dusty books and boring essays, then you are very wrong indeed. Every Thursday at 4pm, a small group of first and second years visit the History Department in order to construct amazing Airfix models, watch historical movies, recreate scenes from multiple historical films, and altogether, have a lot of fun. This year, the members of the club made a model of the Battle of the Somme, which was the longest and bloodiest battle in the First World War. These young history enthusiasts thoroughly enjoyed finding out more about this topic. We also spent some time producing our own version of the film Braveheart .The film was surprisingly not that cringey, and the members of the club enjoyed making it. On the whole, the Lower School History Club has been a huge success with the members of Lower School. Mark Taylor, 1SCVM
