Abingdonian 2017
2 The Abingdonian Editorial With such busy schedules, it’s very easy to let the memories of the past academic year fade away, so we have produced this issue of The Abingdonian to commemorate all that happened here in 2016/17. We hope that this issue captures some of the numerous accomplishments of Abingdon students and the fantastic activities and trips laid on by the School, making them available for boys to revisit for years to come, even after moving on to pastures new. As an academic year, 2016/17 was full of events worthy of mention. Outside the classroom we saw exchanges to France, Spain and Germany, the latter marking the 50th anniversary of our link with the Ratsgymnasium School in Bielefeld, and exciting trips to places as far afield as Finland, the French Alps and Moldova. Our sports clubs had busy and successful seasons, while productions such as And Then There Weren’t Any Left and London Road played to appreciative audiences in the Amey Theatre. In the classroom, our GCSE and A Level students achieved excellently once again. With such a huge array of activity going on it was very easy to produce this year’s issue of The Abingdonian . We encourage you to use our publication to look back on the year fondly, and remember how far you came, how much you changed, and all that you did on the way. Finally, many thanks go to the lead editor, Mr Jenkins, and to the entire pupil editorial team of Rory Bishop, Daniel Cooney, Jate Jaturanpinyo, Andreas Lo, Sam Hayes-Newington, Sam Penrose, Xavier Putnam and Matthew Viner, as well as to all the contributing staff and students who helped in bringing this publication to you.
