Abingdonian 2017

28 The Abingdonian Squash Abingdon squash has had its most successful year ever. Our outstanding squad consisted of Nikhil Vyas, William Pearson, Hector Chambers, Ed Pettitt, Will Taylor, Ben Goriely- McDonald and Max Mortimer. They trained hard all year and played with spirit and skill, beating Bradfield (twice), John Hampden B, Stowe and St Edward’s. We also had excellent competitive matches with John Hampden A, RGS High Wycombe and Aylesbury. After losing to Radley in the Michaelmas Term, we avenged the loss with a very satisfying win against them in the Lent Term. We had a great run in the U19 National Trophy, and reached the last eight before losing a hard match to Wellington. I would like to give special thanks to our brilliant coach Ben Rosec, whose expertise, enthusiasm and warmth have made this squad so competitive. Guy Tupper has also continued to play a vital supporting role, offering extra training sessions on Saturdays. The squad is still very young, and we have exciting times ahead of us. David Franklin
