Abingdonian 2017
23 www.abingdon.org.uk Lent Term incredibly challenging. Recreating accents, nuances and all the “ums” and “urhs” of verbatim speech threw us in at the deep end, along with an unorthodox but masterful score by Adam Cork. Many of us could be found listening to the real recordings of these residents, and striving to translate these into our performances, constantly aware of the need to do justice to their story. After many rehearsals and hard work, the cast, just as the residents did in 2006, banded together and formed a solid unit. Huge thanks must go to the band, Mr Taylor and Dr Preece who led us through the eye-opening and incredibly rewarding process, and many of us were sad to say goodbye to our characters and the story behind them when the curtains closed on the final night.
