100 The Abingdonian The Lower Sixth have enjoyed a really full and eventful year. Some highlights include Adriano Matousek, who is one of only ten from the UK to be nominated as a finalist for the BAFTA Young Game Designer Award. Henry Isherwood was selected for South West U18 rugby, while Josh Braithwaite rowed at Henley for the 1st VIII. I am also pleased to announce the selection of Ben Goriely- Macdonald, Arthur Musson, Henry Isherwood and Ivor Langley as school prefects, while Adriano Matousek and Tom Woods were selected to be Heads of House, supported by Ben Saunders and Tom Clokey as deputies. A huge thank you has to go to Mr McGill, Miss Spurling-Holt and Dr Jeffreys for their unwavering support as tutors. As the fifth year wait nervously for their exam results, well done to Connor Brown, who got into the J16 GB sculling trials. Tom Harvey-Jamieson and Henry Muller have been selected for the school council. In addition, Tom won the award for services to charity. Toby Pratt has represented the county at hockey, and Joshua Franklin, Will Diver, Angus Blomfield and Tom Harvey-Jamieson have been selected to be Lower School Assistants. We sadly have to say goodbye to three lads, Saul Rea who has been a real hous: stalwart and who moves to Abingdon and Witney college on a business course; Zack Rudaz, who moves to Cherwell School following the exciting upcoming Japan Rugby Tour; and Francesco Cipriani, who has been one of the highest performing academics in the year group and moves to MCS. Again thanks to Mrs Middleton and Mr Bignell for their support this year. In the fourth year, Arthur Boulton continues to train hard and perform well with his road cycling while Henry Insley and Lloyd Langley performed brilliantly in the inter-house debate, beating Border’s in the final. Henry Insley has also had a superb year all round, and more recently represented the school at the 1500m in several high profile athletics meets. Well done to Rafe Fleming, who is U16 Oxfordshire table tennis champion, as well as Southwell-Sander’s As worlds of Trump and Brexit appear Along comes the farewell time of year. Yet again we bid adieu to Green Army Comrades They’re the epitome of real Good Lads. There is Jonny Allison, who on the stage Is like a tiger that has been uncaged! Uni for George Aylard can’t come too soon He’ll be the next Ban-Ki Moon. We all know that Cookey will go far, Especially when he’s behind the wheel of a sports car! As Elliot plans his GAP year, avoiding maths along the way He’s hoping to have more luck with the ladies of the day. When not scoring runs or a hockey goal TD’s killing time in a car park with Joel! What will the Green Army do without Finch steering the ship We know Finchmesiter27 will be a YouTube hit. Whether it’s a ball, instrument or script in his hand As a great linguist is where Hamish will land. As Rob chooses Oxbridge or Harvard for Uni fun He’s rowing to escape life under the thumb! As Cambridge will realise to their cost Jonny is a gem that they have just lost. With that fetching white suit and epee in hand The school is sure to collapse without Patch’s safe hands. Scoffing pasta in lycra, dishing out hugs to his bro’s Jorgey’s a legend wherever he goes. Everyone’s favourite, Byron leaves behind him The broken hearts of the ladies that could not have him! As Max persuades Mrs Mansfield his French is tres bon , He dreams of opening the bowling with Callum or Con. As Joel heads off with Dingers for some car park fun With his BoyBand hair, all he needs is a number one. As CQ seeks fame and fortune as a Cycling King, Remember the shaving foam to smooth those pins. As Tony spends another night at the books, At Uni he’ll make the most of those devilish good looks! Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Jonah deserves nothing less Next on his to do list – ‘sort out the world, it’s a mess!’ Sweaty hand Whitfield, he has the world at his feet! Will he get the girls if he dribbles in his sleep? Ed’s bad jokes at uni are sure to go down a storm But his morning breath may well do more harm! The class of 2017 are all laid bare But as a bunch of lads they are hard to compare. Through the roller coaster of their school times There’s been parties, break ups and many a good time. And to their tutors they owe a big ‘cheers’ Maybe even a wine or a beer, For helping them through the teenage maze To the culmination of their schooldays.
