Abingdonian 2017

99 www.abingdon.org.uk House Reports both academic and in the Other Half, we have had some fun O’Doherty’s house events. The first was a house quiz, organised and delivered by the Upper Sixth, and, although we still don’t know which team actually won, the evening ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. In the Lent Term we had a joint O’Doherty’s and Southwell- Sander’s trip to Rush Trampoline, which again was extremely popular and huge amounts of fun. A lot of talent was displayed and even Mr Broadbent managed to perform acrobatics into the foam pit! The year ended with a summer social, which gave a chance for parents to get together and look back on an action-packed year. In the houseroom itself we have made some additions, including lots of board games and some new furniture that allows more work and social spaces. Ollie Singleton in the Upper Sixth hand- drew a cityscape mural on the wall and the photography competition resulted in some beautiful entries, including the winning photo of Blenheim Palace. It has been sad to say goodbye to the Upper Sixth. We will miss them, but wish them a happy and fulfilling life. The boys have welcomed me and made my first year as a housemaster a truly enjoyable one and for this I am most grateful. I am also very thankful to my superb team of tutors. Emily O’Doherty
