www.abingdon.org.uk 21 Abingdon News All parents are automatically members of ASPA - a parent-led body that organises social events, raises funds to support school life and connects parents through ClassList and many other groups. As some of our parents have boys leaving the School this year, we have a number of vacancies on the Committee so this is your chance to get involved! Here’s what some of our current ASPA members have to say. Why don’t you get in touch and find out more? • Vice Chair – to support the Chair with meetings and regularly check and handle enquiries related to ASPA. • Communications Officer – to contribute articles each term for ‘Abingdon News’ and to update the ASPA page on school website etc. • Event Co-ordinators x2 (or more!) - to plan and coordinate the 3 or 4 events held by ASPA each year. • Year Reps - we welcome anyone from any year group to join us on the committee and are particularly in need of representatives for the 2020/2021 Third Year, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth. Vacancies for the 2020/21 School year: “ ” “ “ Having already been through the school with my first child I had really appreciated all the different things that ASPA do to support parents so I was keen to get more involved second time around. Everyone has been very welcoming and it has been great to meet people from across the school who I wouldn’t have met otherwise. ASPA has welcomed me to Abingdon Senior School, allowing me to meet and develop friendships with a wide range of parents from different year groups. The events organised have also been a lot of fun and a vital part of enabling parents to get to know each other better in a social setting. Working with like-minded parents from across the School on a variety of events is great fun AND you get to hear about what is REALLY going on at school ie all the stuff our own sons don’t tell us! ” ” Please drop us a line at [email protected] Your chance to help shape the future 1870–2020: A Celebration of 150 Years at Albert Park Saturday 5 September To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Abingdon School at Albert Park, we are delighted to welcome you to a day of celebration on Saturday 5 September.
