www.abingdon.org.uk 3 Abingdon News Abingdon News I have really enjoyed my first week. I have met a lot of new first year pupils and I have made new friends. So far all the teachers have been friendly and welcoming. The highlights of my first week have been my favourite lessons (Latin and English) I have enjoyed starting my various Other Half activities including shooting, lower school debating and rugby. My favourite part of the week was when I managed to find my cello in the Music Department without help! My first week at Abingdon has been great, the sport was amazing and I really enjoyed the sense of responsibility you get, for example moving around the school and having to be on time for lessons. All in all, Abingdon is a great school and I have thoroughly enjoyed the start of my time here. “ “ “ “ First Impressions “ We welcomed 66 new faces to the First Year this term. After week one we asked the boys for their initial impressions, here are just a few of their responses: “ Ben Kane brings History Alive Bestselling author, Ben Kane, brought Roman history alive when he spoke to Lower School and Middle School. The boys particularly enjoyed trying on armour and hearing about Ben’s walk along the length of Hadrian’s Wall in a full Roman legion outfit. Team Building in the First Year The first years enjoyed a morning of team building getting to know each other and developing their communication and listening skills. Activities included operating a giant parachute, the marshmallow challenge, and attempting to create the Abingdon griffen using their bodies.
