Creativity in abundance Flocks of wooden birds, kaleidoscopes, pencil pots, name plaques, jitter bugs, jigsaws and much, much more filled the CDT studio and spilled out into the corridor as a term’s worth of projects went on display. The steady hand buzzers proved testing for the Headmaster! Remembrance Boys in Years 3 to 8 made beautiful acrylic poppies as part of the School’s Remembrance Day commemorations. The occasion was marked with a special assembly from Year 5 and a poetry recital from Year 8. The whole school gathered for a short Remembrance Ceremony, and with the 2-minute silence respectfully observed, Ruari, in Year 8, played the Last Post. Saturday Art Workshops Saturday art workshops were very popular this term with boys exploring sculpture and drypoint etching. The Senior Choir performed In Caelum Fero by Karl Jenkins and This is Me from The Greatest Showman in the Royal Albert Hall at the Music for Youth Schools’ Prom. The choir was part of the Oxfordshire Massed Buddy Ensemble, an orchestra and choir of 500 pupils from primary, secondary and special schools across Oxfordshire. Music for Youth Entering the Dragon’s Den Year 7 have immersed themselves in a national Dragon’s Den style project where they develop their entrepreneurial skills and business practices alongside their ICT skills. The initiative is part of the Tycoon Enterprise Competition, encouraging budding entrepreneurs to get involved in business by giving them a start-up loan to run a business while at school or college. The boys, working in groups of four or five, wrote business plans for their ideas and the top five plans were submitted to the competition. All were successful, receiving loans to a total of £400. The businesses, which are competing against over 200 other enterprises, are: • Culbs - potting up bulbs in recycled containers • Iced Delights - fruit smoothies • The Green Room - fun green screen images • Books 4 You - second hand books • Billy’s Bones - homemade dog biscuits Results are announced in April and winners go to Buckingham Palace. 23 Pre-Prep charmed the audience with this year’s play.
