10 April 2018 Abingdon Prep Art & CDT The Year 8 art scholarship candidates were invited to spend the day exploring and extending their skills in sculpture as part of a specialist clay workshop with Martha Evans, our clay teacher supported by the Head of Art. They used a particular ‘craft crank’ clay specially designed to support freestanding sculptural forms. The boys chose animal models to work Y5 Trophy Shields Y6 Balsa Bees C D T from, observing both visual contours of the animal and the tactile shapes of each limb, to create some exceptional pieces created by the end of the day, from horses, hippos and pigs to baby elephants.
