abingdon.org.uk/prep 9 Abingdon Prep In School A large number of our pupils have instrumental or voice lessons at school, given by our team of visiting music staff. From bassoon Instrument Taster Carousel Y4 Greek Masks & Shields Year 4 explored Greek Art and Architecture in their summer art project. The boys created some beautifully painted battle shields using cardboard and experimenting with relief. After some research into Greek theatre, they each chose either comedy or tragedy to construct a card mask using only glue and scissors to give their mask a personality. They all made some exceptional examples and had a lot of fun modelling them through school. Sherrey Tysom to ukulele, clarinet to cello, piano to violin and more, they’ve got it covered. Each year they host a taster carousel where any boy can try an instrument to find which appeals the most, and maybe try a session or two before committing to lessons. The Annual BBQ Exploring Digestion How do you model our body’s digestive processes? Simply make a bran flake mush, add food colouring for effect and use a length of tights as the intestine. Then squeeze the water out and extrude! Year 4 absolutely loved this gungy but informative science practical lesson! ... and Quinn came too
