University of Bath Languages Conference
14 November 2017
Last Friday a group of fifth year and lower sixth students went to the University of Bath Languages Conference. They attended interactive workshops and had the opportunity to tour the campus and meet some of the current university students.
The trip was a very revealing and educative experience in which I gained a real insight into the life of a language student and a student in general. The value of language skills was made increasingly clear and the trip highlighted the breadth of fields that are open to graduates in their later life, an exciting and intriguing prospect. I would recommend this to anyone doing a language at A level. (Aron Lavis, L6)
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip overall and it was extremely useful going to the university and seeing all the facilities available. It was useful listening and talking to lecturers and current students from the university to get different points of views. I learnt a bit of Italian which gave me an insight into another European language which I could delve into. I really enjoyed the Italian beginner class because it was very fun and interactive. I absolutely recommend going on this trip. There were also some alumni who came from various career areas, including a sport journalist from Bleacher Report! (Qasim Naqvi, L6)
I enjoyed the trip and found it useful as it explained the various 4 year courses you can do when you study a language. Two students spoke about their year abroads which was useful as it told us what options there were. Also, there were speakers who gave us an insight into what careers you can go into after studying a language. I would recommend going on the trip. (Matthew Tuite-Dalton, L6)
