Sarah Wearne, Abingdon School's Archivist, has this month launched a book she wrote as a memorial to those lost from school communities across Great Britain in the 1st World War. Sarah with the help of photographer James Kerr, pens a moving and insightful tribute to the boys by researching 48 memorials created by schools to honour their fallen. Abingdon School is one of the 48 that make up the commemorative book.

Speaking about the book, award winning writer John Lewis-Stempel said, ‘A memorial to the fallen ‘boys’ which is as beautiful as it is touching. In this centenary year of the Great War’s end there will be many commemorative books, but none will surpass this. None.’
