On Friday 19 June, over 260 Upper Sixth leavers, parents and members of staff enjoyed a half-hour celebratory webinar welcoming the leavers as members of the OA Club. This milestone webinar included addresses from the Headmaster, the OA Club Chairman and the OA Club President.

We were also delighted to welcome Jonny Prest-Smith (2010) as this year’s guest speaker. Jonny is a trainee obstetrician and gynaecologist who has worked as a junior doctor across South London since qualifying, in centres such as King’s College Hospital, Croydon University Hospital and University Hospital Lewisham. The Abingdon School Ford and West Biology Prize 2009 remains at the top of his CV awards list and has been joined by a scholarship from medical school, a medical degree distinction and a foundation doctor award. Jonny spoke honestly about feeling he was an ‘average Abingdonian’, until recognising that Abingdon School does not build average.

Our thanks go to Oliver Botting who put together a montage of photographs of the year group, to the soundtrack of ‘Jerusalem’, a recording of leavers captured at their final chapel service held on 20 March.

We look forward to welcoming the 2020 leavers to the OA community currently in its online manifestation, and in person when we are able to do so.
