On Friday 21 June, 30 OAs returned to School to assist with 360 Degrees (previously UCAS 2) in the Yang Science Centre. Either currently studying at university, or recently graduated, they were available to pass on their knowledge of chosen subject courses, specialisms and universities to help Lower Sixth pupils make decisions about UCAS applications, work experience choices, wider reading and writing personal statements.

We were very fortunate to have subject specialists in areas including Medicine, Law, Economics, Philosophy, Chemistry, Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Classics, English Literature and Environmental Science.

The event, which replaces the old UCAS 2 evening, took the form of a netwroking evening, and it’s full name is 360 Degrees: Discuss, Discover, Decide. the careers team hope that this conveys to the L6 boys the approach the School encourages them to take – that of considering a range of options and keeping an open mind, talking to lots of people and trying to find out as much as they can about everything related to their decisions about their future.

Staff and OAs were split into 3 broad subject areas, one on each floor of the Yang Science Centre:
Sciences and Technology
Social Sciences
Humanities and the Arts

This gave OAs the opportunity to catch up with fellow OAs undertaking similar courses, as well as networking with pupils and parents interested in their subject area.

Feedback from students, parents, staff and OAs has been incredibly positive and we sincerely thank those that gave up their time to offer their advice.
