Michael Stinton, Abingdon School's Director of Music, and his wife were fortunate and proud to see and hear two recent musical OAs in fine form at a special Cantata Evensong in the Chapel of St John's College, Cambridge on the evening of Saturday 12 May 2018.

OAs Hugh Cutting (2015) and James Anderson-Besant (2016) were leading lights at this special Ascension Day service, which featured Bach's wonderful Cantata No 11, Lobet Gott in Seinen Reichen.

Organ Scholar, James, was in fine form at the organ whilst Hugh, now a final year Choral Scholar, sang absolutely superbly in the famous countertenor aria, which is perhaps better known as the Agnus Dei from the Mass in B Minor.

It was wonderful to hear the mature expression and power that Hugh can project. We understand that he hopes to join an opera course at a music college in London next year. Both Hugh and James are currently reading music.
