Gerald Smithson Memorial Cricket- Postponed

June 19 | 13:30 - 21:00

It is with sadness that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gerald Smithson Memorial Cricket match will be postponed.

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of former English Cricketer and Abingdon School cricket coach and groundsman, Gerald Smithson.

As such, we are looking for a mixed team of OAs, teachers, staff and family members of all abilities to play against the current First XI in a 20-20 match which is named for and played in memory of Gerald Smithson.

This extended day of celebration will take the following format:

1.30 pm – 2.30 pm: Tours of the School, by prior arrangement
2.45 pm – 3.45 pm: OAs are invited to join James Golding in coaching a School Cricket lesson. Email James Golding to register your interest in this part of the day.
4.00 pm – 5.00 pm: Arrival refreshments at the pavilion on War Memorial Field
5.00 pm – 8.00 pm: Twenty 20 Gerald Smithson Memorial Cricket Match against the current First X1
8.00 pm – 9.30 pm: BBQ at the pavilion on War Memorial Field

Families and spectators are most welcome to bring picnics also.
