Saturday 7 March 2015

An inaugural meeting of OAs in Kernow was held on Saturday 7 March at the Punchbowl and Ladle near Truro. There were eleven of us in all including four wives (twelve if you include 10 month old Robin who brought his parents).

It proved to be an excellent start. There is much to live up to: arranged by just two OAs your reporter calculates a staggering growth of some 250 percent had been achieved in one year!

There is also an astonishing additional number of OAs (39) living and (mainly!) working in the county. If they represent as wide a range of activities, interests and work as the initial seven then future get-togethers promise to be very bright.

We went our separate ways with a warm sense of camaraderie and good cheer. We may only be a little acorn but it promises fair to become a young and vigorous sapling oak pretty soon.

Our thanks to Alison in the OA Club Office for her sterling and patient assistance in helping to get the show off the ground and to Graham (Landlord) and Flick (his Food and Beverage manager) for taking care of us so well.
