On Saturday 22 June, Old Abingdonians convened at the Multi Use Sports Area Pavilion to play some top Tennis, and to be challenged by Abingdon's current top two Tennis players in the warm June sunshine.

We welcomed back OA Tennis regulars Tim Janisch (1995) and Euan Campbell (2010), as well as Tom Buckle (2017) who attended as an OA rather than a pupil for the first time. We are also grateful to pupils Max Hall and Samuel Christie for challenging our OAs and we look forward to welcoming them back as OAs next year.

Play consisted of a doubles match, Tim Janisch and Tom Buckle set against Max and Samuel whilst Tennis Coach, Martin Butler, challenged Euan Campbell to a singles match. The Abingdon upper Sixths put up a great fight but the OAs clinched victory in the doubles game winning 7 sets to 5. Following this, a doubles match was played with a player swapping in and out on rotation.

Families who came to spectate were kept refreshed with Pimm's, strawberries and cream. After the match, a light match tea was enjoyed by players, spectators and a number of staff who joined us, including Abingdon Tennis enthusiast, Tom Ayling.

We look forward to welcoming OAs back next year and hope that we are treated again to the same glorious weather!
