On Saturday, the annual awards for Abingdon Vale Swimming Club took place and several Abingdon boys were in attendance. Winning swimmer of the year was Joseph Bradshaw (OA 2016) who broke many personal best times all year long, assisted with coaching duties and had many regional level qualifying times. He is currently studying Materials Science at Sheffield University and representing the University in BUCS competitions whilst continuing to swim for AVSC. Scott Yap won the runner up for swimmer of the year and also won the cup for outstanding effort. His training ethic over the last year has been phenomenal and he has battled through injuries to really develop his butterfly alongside his already brilliant breaststroke. Scott has some qualifying times for winter regionals and will be hoping to swim a sub 1:00.00 100 fly soon! Will d'Arcy of Abingdon Prep School won the Club Captain's award for the boys, recognising his huge progress as a swimmer and great attitude in both competitions and training. Abingdon School coach Amanda Ford is Head Coach of AVSC and presented all the awards.
