During the summer, the School Rifle Club embarked on their annual trip to the National Shooting Centre, Bisley to compete in the week-long national shooting competition. Our shooters yielded some impressive scores and lots of personal bests were achieved. The most notable achievement was winning the Junior Club Team with the team comprised of Will Shorrocks, Oscar Bennett and Ben MacLennan.

Other successes included Ben MacLennan winning a Bronze medal in Competition 1 with a score of 376/400. Will Shorrocks, Ben MacLennan, Oscar Bennett and Charles Symonds won a Bronze medal for their overall scores in the week and all boys achieved an Expert Shot badge. All boys were also selected to shoot in the County 50 metre competition and placed well amongst tough opposition.

Despite challenging weather conditions the week was very enjoyable for all involved and proved to be invaluable experience for all members of the team. Special thanks must go to Mr Alan Smith, for always providing outstanding coaching to the team, Mrs Mandy Pritchard for her continued support of the club, and Mr Mark Johnson for his efforts in organisation.
