The Rifle Club attended its first competitive fixture of the season away at Marlborough College last Thursday.
Eight boys formed the team in two sections. Drew Farwell and Will Shorrocks formed the senior 10-bull team. Kai Li, Toby Baker, Oscar Bennett, Charles Symonds, Ben MacLennan and Marius Williamson formed the junior 5-bull team.
The competition was strong and they put in a good effort, however our senior team's dedication to training paid off and we won by a small margin of 5 points. Drew scored a decent 95/100 and Will scored an impressive 97/100 giving Abingdon 192/200 vs Marlborough's 187.
The 5-bull team didn't fare quite as well and posted a combined team score of 565/600 vs Marlborough's 583. Marius scored a very impressive 99/100 despite being the youngest person competing in the event. Ben scored 96, Oscar 95, Toby 94, Kai 91 and Charles 90.
