Despite the freezing January conditions the Old Abingdonian Returning Captain's XI, led by Henry Plumpton, returned with energy and enthusiasm for the first Friday Night Lights of the season.
In what is now an annual season opener, the leaving captain from the previous year has the opportunity to pick a squad to play the 1st XI for the forthcoming season. On what was an extremely cold evening under lights at Tilsley Park, both sides played some positive football.
The Old Boys rekindled some of the partnerships and relationships that led to a very successful season last year, and the present 1st XI started their season looking to put into practice a productive pre-season program. A very enjoyable evening was had by all, and we look forward to welcoming the OAs back again for the annual OA fixture later this year.
