Year 5 are currently studying ‘Sealife’ in Art this term.

Having collaged in the style of Matisse, and explored the shapes and colours through oil pastel shells, they are now experimenting with Japanese koi fish using the ancient art of Batik, meaning “to write.”

Using hot wax and applying it carefully using Tjantings the boys had a fabulous time testing the medium and how best to make their marks.

Tentative dots were very popular however some bold members of the class attempted details, scales and even some seaweed. Excellent experimenting Year 5!
