Our Year 4 pupils have been finding out how the digestive system works with a fun, practical experiment. Firstly, they took a plastic bag (to represent the stomach) and filled it with mashed up banana, some biscuits, juice and water (the gastric juices). Then, they transferred the mixture to a sieve, squashing and shaking it (representing the muscles in the small intestine contracting to move the food down and out of the body).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
