The crystals can only grow in a solution that cannot have any more solute dissolved in it \u2013 \u2018saturated\u2019. They suspended the little seed crystals in the solution on a string and crossed their fingers that they would grow. All their solutions were well made, resulting in a bumper crop of beautiful blue, rhomboid-shaped crystals.
