{"id":30309,"date":"2020-12-10T15:38:27","date_gmt":"2020-12-10T15:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdon.org.uk\/prep\/?p=30309"},"modified":"2022-05-18T15:50:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T14:50:59","slug":"plastic-free-decorations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdon.org.uk\/prep\/plastic-free-decorations\/","title":{"rendered":"Plastic free decorations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>10 December 2020<\/h3>\n<p>Children at Abingdon Prep and partnerships schools enjoyed making plastic free Christmas decorations for a competition that was judged by the Mayor of Abingdon, Charlie Birks. The competition was organised by Abingdon Cuts Plastic with Surfers Against Sewage to help children and their families reduce their Christmas plastic consumption. The task was to create a homemade Christmas decoration, with the theme &#8220;Plastic-Free Christmas&#8221;. The Mayor of Abingdon visited Abingdon Prep just before the end of term to present prizes to the boys.<\/p>\n<p>Although decorations were viewed virtually for the competition, Katie Smith who teaches CDT at the Prep, then created a 3D display in the school corridor to celebrate the variety of festive ideas from boys at Abingdon Prep.<\/p>\n<p>From woven diamonds to a wooden reindeer, a wool father Christmas to a papier m\u00e2ch\u00e9 snowman, the results were fantastic!
