{"id":23943,"date":"2020-02-06T08:27:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T08:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abingdon.org.uk\/prep\/?p=23943"},"modified":"2020-02-07T09:41:42","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T09:41:42","slug":"history-of-breakdancing-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abingdon.org.uk\/prep\/history-of-breakdancing-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"History of Breakdancing Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>6 February 2020<\/h3>\n<p>Not only were we treated to our very own Year 8 rock supergroup playing a spirited rendition of Queen&#8217;s &#8216;Bohemian Rhapsody&#8217; as we arrived for Assembly today, but Roger continued the theme with his history of breakdancing!<\/p>\n<p>Roger showed how it originated with Shaolin Kung Fu around 1500 years ago, and over the centuries melded elements of Brazil&#8217;s capoeira and samba, Irish and tap dancing, disco and hip hop, leading to break dancing.
