Year 8 pupils recently took part in a two night residential, based in Swanage\u00a0in Dorset, as part\u00a0of their geography field studies and in support of their learning of coastal geomorphology.\u00a0The pupils\u00a0visited Durdle Door, Stair Hole and Lulworth Cove on the first day, allowing them to study features of a concordant coastline.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0next day, and despite\u00a0a lively sou’westerly\u00a0brewing up and some testing weather conditions,\u00a0they were able to study a discordant coastline. They got up close to Old Harry Rocks and the Pinnacles, and\u00a0then investigated the changing\u00a0profile of Studland Beach.<\/p>\n
On the final day, and, once again, despite some persistent Dorset rain, the boys studied at first hand the site and situation of Corfe Castle, whilst also learning of its long and varied history.<\/p>\n
