Fan-propelled boats were made in CDT to race across the School&#39;s swimming pool.&nbsp;Year 8 worked in pairs to produce a light, stable craft using recycled products. One battery pack, dowel, elastic bands, water bottles and floats were the only pieces of equipment allowed (no glue!).&nbsp;The design of the boat and the size of the fan were crucial decisions.<\/p>\n<p>James and Krishan&#39;s catamaran reached the other side of the pool in first place, with a gold being awarded for their efforts.&nbsp;Crispin chose a compact boat by Rohan and Giles as his favourite design of the day.&nbsp;Great fun was had by all, with no boats sinking and only one capsizing!&nbsp;A problem-solving challenge well executed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>12 November 2015 During a busy week Crispin was called out of his office to judge the annual Year 8 Boat Race&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":12774,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[67,60],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-12773","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-academic-news","category-news-categories"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.0 -
