Today in our Up and Atom Science Club for Years 3 & 4, we made Incy Wincy Spiders, who can stay sitting on their web threads without falling down. The boys decorated their spiders and stuck a matchstick onto the backs.
String was threaded through guide holes and then the boys could try and make Incy stay put by holding the string tight – the matchstick pressure on the string causes friction and stops him slipping. Loosen the string and down he scuttles.
