Saturday morning rugby fixtures are among my favourite occasions at Abingdon Prep. It was terrific to see the boys turning up at Cokethorpe School with a sense of expectation and a desire to give their best.

In direct contrast to our season opener, the U10 boys started the game on the front foot, attacking with the ball in hand and taking care of it in contact. While there was a good amount of to and fro in the opening quarter, APS soon established command of the game and finished the first half with wide smiles.

Brimming with confidence, the boys played the second half with the wind in their sails, crossing the try line frequently. I was really impressed with their tenacity and agility, as well as their willingness to commit themselves more assertively in the tackle.

Many thanks to Cokethorpe for hosting us – we had an excellent morning.
