The weather stayed fine for Sports Day which was held for the second year at Tilsley Park. New events included the 60m hurdles, 75m, 150m, 300m and the Javelin for year 7 and 8.

In the junior section for Years 3 and 4 there were some really strong performances by Year 4; Dylan, Oliver, Zachary and Oliver all won inaugural events, but the Victor Ludorum went jointly to Ted in Year 3 for winning the 600m and long jump and Paul in Year 3, who won the 150m and the vortex throw.

Further up the school, in Years 5 and 6, it was a close competition. Luke in Year 5 won the 75m and the high jump and Unicorn won the house relay in a new record time. In Year 6 Tom won the 300m and the cricket ball, but it seemed like the whole school gathered by the high jump area to watch James set a new record of 1m 47cm. It was the moment of the morning and James added the 200m title in a new record time of 29 seconds.

The Victor Ludorum went to George in Year 5, who won three events; the 300m, 800m and the long jump.

In Years 7 and 8 there were notable performances from Charlie and Jack (Year 7 ) who both won two events. Billy and Henry in Year 8 also won their respective events. The Victor Ludorum for the senior boys went to Ollie in Year 7, who won the 200m and the long jump, with a distance of 4m 80cm. He rounded this off by helping Phoenix win the relay in a new record time of 58.26 seconds.

It was appropriate that Phoenix, having won five out the six relays, won the House Cup and Johnny was invited to step up and receive congratulations from the headmaster. A terrific morning of competition.
