Abingdon Prep is very proud of our Year 7 swimmers who competed at the IAPS National finals. The Olympic Swimming Pool in London is a daunting venue – absolutely enormous and bustling with confident club and prep school swimmers. Alex, Angus and James may have had less experience of competitive swimming, but they absolutely rose to the challenge.

The four boys competed in both their age group relay events. After warming up with a solid swim in the medley relay, they aced the freestyle relay, smashing their entry time personal best by over 5 seconds and completing the four lengths in under a minute; they came 11th in the country!

Ned competed in the individual 50m backstroke and also achieved an awesome personal best, coming photo finish 6th in his national final.

The boys were a great team; they behaved impeccably and were brilliantly supported with poolside help from Angus' mum and spectator cheering from Alex's dad. Huge thanks go to Ashley for the enormous admin task that is IAPS swimming and for all his work with the boys in the pool throughout the year.
